Chenille Bedspreads
A Few Things You Should Know About Chenille Bedspreads

Chenille is one of the best fabrics to use with bedspreads. Chenille bedspreads look in every sense exotic. They are most commonly seen in Mediterranean and Spanish bedrooms and are one of the most elegant bedspreads you could use. The word “chenille” is actually a French word which means “caterpillar”. There is no surprise why this was the etymology of the work because the work done in chenille fabric is very much like a natural silk weave. If you want to make your bedroom look more exotic, yet still elegant, you could definitely go for a chenille bedspread. There are a few things about chenille bedspreads that you should know, of course.

One thing you should always remember about a chenille bedspread is that they are not the most affordable bedspreads. These are basically woven works that are designed very intricately. Unlike other types of bedspreads that only have certain parts with embroideries, a chenille bedspreads looks like it is one large embroidery piece in itself. The work done on each and every chenille bedspreads is very special. It would be very hard to work on then, especially if they are handmade. Chenille work can be somewhat expensive because of this. If you have ever tried doing crochet work, you would know how hard it is to make just a small piece of cloth work. Imagine making

one whole bedspread. A lot of time and effort is devoted to something like this and it is only expected that it will cost a lot.

Although they are pricey, chenille bedspreads are definitely worth it. Nothing can spice up a bedroom better than a chenille bedspread. And since they are pricey and are mostly made by hand, you can expect them to be delicate. Anything woven is delicate. Just one pull of a loose string will totally destroy the whole work. You should always be careful with a chenille bedspread. Avoid wearing jewelry or anything sharp and pointy when using it. Avoid storing them in areas that may have splintery surfaces, like wooden closets. These things might case unwanted runs on the bedspread. If runs do occur, never pull on the loose thread. Rather, trim the out. Remember to just trim; never cut out one whole string as this might completely ruin the bedspread. When washing a chenille bedspread, a washing machine can be used; but hand wash is a lot better. This will assure you that the threads won’t be pulled and the design won’t be distorted.

A chenille bedspread is perfect for any type of bedroom. Having one of these is like having a work of art on your bed. It is like hand-woven tapestry made just for your bed. It can give your room an exotic look, and at the same time, a softer look. They come in a variety of designs and colors. You can even choose from different types of yarn like cotton, rayon, olefin and acrylic. Invest in a chenille bedspread; you would not regret it.
